SMARTer Kids Foundation announces US$295,000 competitive Grant program for law schools across North America

Law TECH Grant covers 60 percent of list price for SMART Boards and Rear Projection SMART Boards

Atlanta, GA --- June 26, 2000 --- The SMARTer Kids Foundation announces the Law TECH Grant, a US$295,000 competitive Grant to help law schools acquire SMART Boards. Having SMART Boards in law schools means graduates will have the skills and knowledge required to use technology effectively in the courtroom and the boardroom. The Grant covers 60 percent of the list price of a SMART Board 560 or 580 and Floor Stand 570, or Rear Projection SMART Board 1602, 1802 or 3000i. The Law TECH Grant is open to law schools in the U.S. and Canada. With SMART products in law schools, the next generation of technology-savvy lawyers will have the tools necessary to produce high-tech, compelling cases.

"Knowing how to develop persuasive and convincing legal arguments starts with having access to the right equipment in the classroom," says Nancy Knowlton, executive director of the SMARTer Kids Foundation. "With the Law TECH Grant, law schools can purchase leading-edge presentation and collaborative equipment at a very affordable price. This ensures that law school graduates will be proficient using the technology that is becoming commonplace in courtrooms and law firms across North America."

About SMART Boards
Using the SMART Board, a touch-sensitive interactive whiteboard, lawyers can navigate through any computer-based application at the touch of a finger, or pick up a stylus and annotate over top of the live applications in electronic ink. With this powerful presentation tool, they can save and print notes, collaborate on electronic documents, present and share evidence and run multimedia materials - all from the Board’s surface. Notes and annotated images can be printed, e-mailed, posted to a network or saved as HTML so that others can view them from a Web browser.
