 More than US$6 million in technology grants available for teacher training facilities around the world SMARTer Kids Foundation PREP Grants cover up to 80% of suggested list prices of qualifying SMART products "Engaging students with interactive technology is crucial in today's digital environment," says Nancy Knowlton, executive director of the SMARTer Kids Foundation. "PREP Grants help equip teacher preparation and training centers with the products necessary to provide both new and experienced teachers with hands-on experience in using technology in the classroom to enhance student achievement." Eligibility and how to apply The PREP Grant is available to all accredited, not-for-profit universities, colleges, teacher training schools, institutes and centers in select countries involved in pre-service or in-service teacher training or education leading to an education degree or professional teaching certification. The grant is also available to all local, district or regional in-service teacher training centers that train a minimum of 100 teachers per year. For-profit institutions do not qualify for the PREP Grant. Previous recipients of a PREP Grant are not eligible. Applications are available online at www.smarterkids.org/prep or by calling the Foundation office at +1.403.228.8565. All applications must be received prior to midnight, December 1, 2005. Only 500 grants per product class will be awarded, so applicants are encouraged to apply early. Grants must be used by December 31, 2005. Previous recipients Previous PREP Grant recipients include the University of Houston (U.S.), Archdiocese of Louisville Schools (U.S.), St Patrick's Catholic Primary School (UK), University Of Western Ontario (Canada), Escola Secundária de Alcácer do Sal (Portugal), Oberstufe Altstätten (Switzerland), Ikhwezi Community College (South Africa), Putuo Education Teachers College (China) and Instituto Politécnico Nacional (Mexico). ###
