US$64 million in SMARTer Kids Grants for SMART products available for the 2004-2005 school year Educational institutions, museums, libraries and home schools in the United States and Canada eligible for technology funding "As learning environments and curriculums become more digitized, the SMARTer Kids Foundation and its partners are committed to providing affordable products for educators that help improve learning and outcomes," says Nancy Knowlton, executive director of the SMARTer Kids Foundation. "We have increased the grant amount to ensure that more institutions are able to enjoy the benefits of using SMART products in the their classrooms." "The SMARTer Kids Foundation contributions are doing exactly what I think the Foundation hoped they would," says Robert D. Grimm, Illinois Teacher of the Year and user of a SMART Board interactive whiteboard funded by a SMARTer Kids Foundation grant. "They are changing how teachers teach, and, more importantly, they are helping students become more involved in the learning process." Notable recipients The SMARTer Kids Foundation has helped schools across the United States and Canada purchase technology they might otherwise be unable to afford. Recipients of SMARTer Kids Grants include New York City Public Schools, Pomona Unified School District, Missouri Research and Education Network (MOREnet) and many others.
