2008 PREP Grant

The PREP Grant is an international grant from the SMARTer Kids Foundation of Canada (the "Foundation") that helps teacher professional development facilities purchase their first SMART products. Specifically, the aim of the Grant is to help preservice and in-service facilities provide technology-integration training that can empower teachers to create more dynamic, interactive learning environments.

Who is eligible?
This PREP Grant is available only to accredited not-for-profit universities, colleges and teacher professional development facilities that provide preservice and in-service training leading to an education degree or professional teacher certification for a minimum of 100 teachers per year. Prior recipients are not eligible.

The PREP Grant may only be applied to the suggested list price of eligible SMART products. It may not be used with, or combined with, special pricing that may be available through bid aggregators (such as PEPPM or other similar organizations) or through the placement of SMART products in government contracts. Eligible SMART products include the SMART Board interactive whiteboard, the Rear Projection SMART Board interactive whiteboard, SynchronEyes classroom mangement software and SMART Ideas software.

Strong consideration will also be given to in-service teacher professional development programs that train a minimum of 100 teachers per year and that are aimed at improving teachers’ technological proficiency and ability to apply technology in the classroom. The award of any and all PREP Grants is at the sole discretion of the Foundation.

PREP Grant recipients must be willing to provide the name and contact information of both an instructor and a student from the recipient school so they can be interviewed about the training program. Recipients must also allow the SMARTer Kids Foundation to use these names or the name of the institution along with a description of their application of SMART products in any promotional material or programs that the Foundation and its partners may create. In the case of product endorsements, recipients will have the opportunity to participate in the development of the material to ensure that it accurately represents their use of the products.
