What a beary great way to
begin my adventure on Vancouver Island! You may have heard of Rathtrevor
Beach Provincial Park - a favorite picnic and camping destination of travelers
world wide. The beach is amazing!

Fresh air, sunshine, and a place on the
ocean. What more could a bear ask for? Maybe a nickname... the children
here have decided to name me "Ember" because I am red like the
embers of a fire.

Ahhh.... I nestled into a fort built by
my new friends. Can someone turn the lights out, please? If you would
to see more pictures of me at the beach, you can visit the Photo Gallery
at www.ceap.ca. |

The creatures of Vancouver Island and
I bonded at the North Island Wildlife Recovery Center. On this field trip,
students and I learned all kinds of interesting facts about animals and
the ways in which they are being helped to recover. Here I am with the
raccoons! |

I knew I would be meeting new friends
but didn't expect one of them to be a ferret! |

One of the student's mom's carried me
on a trek through the forest when we visited Milner Gardens. We began
our first session of Roots & Shoots to learn about taking care of
plants and the environment. |

I learned how to Hug a Tree and Survive
as part of the Roots & Shoots program. |
