Community Helpers
Students will understand that it takes many people doing many varied jobs for a city/town to work as a community as they identify the work their parents do in and outside the home. Students ask their parents to give them one of their “tools of the trade” (wrench, computer paper, measuring spoon, etc.) Each child brings a tool to school and shares how it helps their parents do their job. The tools can then be grouped together and a photo taken of them. Students’ descriptions of tools and the jobs they help get done are included in the ImagiNations teddy bear box.
