| In selecting participants for the Connections program, preference will be given to applicants whose schools meet the following qualifications: |

Public or private, accredited, not-for-profit institution that serves a student population from K-6 (or higher) |
 |
Have an available computer that can be used exclusively with
the SMART Board interactive whiteboard |
 |
Understand the benefits that will accrue to their students by participating in the program |
 |
Willing to commit for a minimum of one year |
 |
Strong administrative and district support for participation |
 |
Find value in students and teachers making connections with peers across North America |

Expectations for Participating Teachers
Teachers wishing to apply for Connections must meet the following qualifications: |
 |
Sixth-grade teacher |
 |
Able to attend the teacher training held in Calgary, Alberta, the summer before the program begins |
 |
Able to attend and actively participate in the Calgary Student Visit at the end of the program |
 |
Have experience implementing programs or projects that enhance their mandated curriculum |
 |
Computer literate and demonstrate a personal commitment to learn how to use technology in their teaching |
 |
Willing to devote an appropriate amount of time to the collaborative projects to ensure their completion in an efficient manner |
 |
Maintain regular contact with the Connections program manager and provide
ongoing feedback and input into the program |
 |
Show enthusiasm for and dedication to integrating technology into their day-to-day teaching |
