In his remarks Chauncey thanked the President for his support
of teachers all over America. He also remarked, "I'm grateful for
the opportunity to work in such a rewarding and humbling profession and
my hope is that all teachers will strive to teach their students to never
give up on their dreams. Teachers from all over the United States can
inspire their students to excel and perhaps even to become teachers themselves."

from Coachella Valley High School as well as his State Superintendent,
Delaine Eastin and former school principal, Richard Alvarez.
Also honored at the event were the 2002 Teachers of the Year from each
