2003 State Teacher of the Year Awards

White House Ceremony (April 30th, 2003)

The National Teacher of the Year was formally announced and introduced during a ceremony held in the East Gardens of the White House. Amid family, peers, supporters and press, the National Nominees emerged from the Oval Office following their one-on-one meetings with the President and were escorted to their seats in the East Gardens. The teachers relished this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Amid an atmosphere of joy and respect we smiled with pride as they joined the President in honoring the teachers recognized as those best representing leadership and excellence in their state and country.
