My teaching philosophy
I teach hands-on biology and believe that all students should become more scientifically
literate in order to make lifelong scientific decisions.
My philosophy in action
I definitely incorporate hands-on, inquiry-based activities in all of the classes
that I teach.
My greatest teaching accomplishment
Prior to becoming Iowa Teacher of the Year for 2004, my greatest accomplishment
was getting the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching.
The most critical issue facing educators today
Declining enrollment and shrinking budgets.
Ways to resolve this issue
Pump up the economy and possible tax reforms.
One thought to inspire other teachers to succeed
Become the best that you can be and inspire excellence in your students so they
can become the best that they can be.
One lesson every student should learn
Honesty, character and integrity will go a long way in life.
