2004 State Teacher of the Year 

On Saturday May 1, 2004, twenty-three outstanding Alberta teachers were honored at Alberta Learning's Excellence In Teaching Awards in Calgary.

Alberta Education Minister Lyle Oberg paid tribute to the teachers by remarking that they are a vital link to Alberta's present and future success.

Nancy Knowlton, executive director of the SMARTer Kids Foundation was among representatives from XEROX, the Alberta School Boards Association, The Edmonton Journal, and the Alberta Chambers of Commerce who co-presented awards to the recognized teachers.
