Teacher of the Year Tech-Champions Workshop

On Tuesday April 20, 2004, 55 U.S. State Teachers of the Year attended a TOY Tech-Champions Workshop, hosted by the SMARTer Kids Foundation and its co-sponsors.

Several TOYs presented class activities and projects they’ve been working on using their newly awarded technology products. The presentations gave these tech-savvy teachers the opportunity to demonstrate to their peers how they’re using technology to excite and ignite their students’ imaginations.

After being revved-up by their colleagues’ creative presentations, the teachers broke into smaller focus groups where they shared lesson ideas and got down to the “how to” questions related to each product. Guided by a technology facilitator, they worked hands on with each product to master their skills. Through the workshop, the teachers gained not only the professional development necessary to integrate the products into their classrooms, they also gained the opportunity to share with and learn from educators who share the unique responsibility of being an ambassador to education in their state.
