My teaching philosophy
I see teaching as an art form. So many different styles work for so many different
people. The key is to model for your students a committed and professional dedication
to the job. As Ghandi said, we must be the change we wish to see in the world.
My philosophy in action
I come into class every day prepared and ready to go. I believe that every student
can be reached and learn if you find a way for them to see the relevance of
what they are learning to their lives.
My greatest teaching accomplishment
Other than the day-to-day joy that teaching brings receiving the California
teacher of the year award 2005.
The most critical issues facing educators today
Class size and making sure kids don't fall through the cracks.
Ways to resolve this issue
Create schools within schools and concentrate as much funding as possible right
where the kids are.
One thought to inspire teachers to succeed
You really are making a difference in people's lives. You are making your communities
stronger and ultimately your country a better place to be. You have ripple effects
that go way beyond anything you can see.
One lesson every student should learn
That it is not rising to great heights in one moment that shows success but
the day to day efforts to sustain yourself, your families and your communities.
