Teacher of the Year (TOY) Tech-Champions Workshop

On Tuesday April 19, 2005, State Teachers of the Year attended a TOY Tech-Champions Workshop, hosted by the SMARTer Kids Foundation and its co-sponsors.

This was the second technology-training event held for the 2005 Teachers of the Year. Taking place just steps from the Iwo Jima Memorial Monument in Rosslyn, Virginia, teachers were hosted in the offices of SMART Technologies, where each took on the role of learner rather than teacher.

In the workshop sessions, they got hands-on training on the products they received as part of their Teaching Excellence Award. Guided by a technology facilitator, the teachers gained the professional development necessary to integrate the products into their classrooms, and the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from educators who share the responsibility of being ambassadors for education in their states.
