During the 2005 NTOY Conference hosted by the Council of Chief State School Officers, January 19–22, 2005, the SMARTer Kids Foundation and sponsors of the Teaching Excellence Awards hosted a day of technology training.

The training included sessions offered by SMART, NEC, Immersive Education, eInstruction and AlphaSmart, and introduced the teachers to the technology products they received as part of their 2005 Teaching Excellence Award. Teachers enjoyed hands-on opportunities to see how the technology they were awarded could be used in their classrooms.
