The Teaching Excellence Award program honors outstanding educators across North
America. Through sponsorship of existing national, state, provincial and educational
agency award programs, the TEA program supports teachers who've demonstrated
themselves to be leading ambassadors for education in their communities. (NOTE:
the TEA program does not administer a teacher nomination or selection process.)
TEA recipients are recognized through sponsorship of the following programs:
| U.S.
State Teacher of the Year awards |
U.S. State Teacher of the Year programs are independently administered
by state departments of education or education agencies. The TEA program
sponsors U.S. State Teacher of the Year programs by donating educational
technology products to recognized state recipients. A TEA
Technology Classroom is presented to each State Teacher of the Year.
In some cases, multiple State Teachers of the Year are recognized by state
agencies and by the TEA program. The TEA program presents State Teacher
of the Year finalists (or District Teachers of the Year) with a technology
award for their classrooms as well.
Each state and extra-state jurisdiction is eligible to nominate one
Teacher of the Year for the National Teacher of the Year award program
(NTOY), administered by the Council of Chief State School Officers. The
TEA program provides national nominees with product training and various
professional development opportunities during events held in conjunction
with the National Teacher of the Year awards.

information about nominating someone or applying for a State Teacher of
the Year award may be obtained from your state education agency.

Excellence in Teaching awards (Canada) |

Award. Recipients of this award are presented a TEA

Excellence in Teaching recipients with a technology award for their classrooms.
The TEA program began sponsoring the Excellence in Teaching awards in
2003. Of the 23 award recipients selected that year, one teacher was selected
